Okifenoki or wot?

Barely an hour out of my home village, I stumbled upon an alternate track to my destination for the day. While I am fortunate to walk on a dedicated cycling track, the pavement is hard, it suffers from a perpetual lack of shade in near 40C searing temps and my footsteps are frequently punctuated by the sound of cars whizzing by.

The hiking trail led me upon an embankment alongside the Danube. The effects of the flooding were everywhere: a playground was half-submerged and my embankment often morphed into a causeway. The trail rapidly veered away from all civilization. Before I knew it, I was surrounded by Danube swampland. Who knew Hungary boasted a swamp to rival some Louisiana Bayous?
