There isn`t much livestock with which to strike up a conversation on my daily walks. In fact, the rolling hills and fields could easily sub in for Ontario pastures. Still, calms the soul to walk with all that open space before me at whatever pace my feet deem to set.
Eventually rolled into gorgeous Tata (sorry, couldn`t resist!) which could never be mistaken for an Ontario spot. Its medieval caste is surrounded by a fine moat with a system of sluices and locks regulating the flow of water into the neighbouring lake. The castle served as refuge to King Vladislav II (one of Rudolf II`s rellies from the House of Habsburg) who convened the diet therein to escape from plague-ravaged Budapest at the turn of the 16th C.
