Trail mix

Stopped in at a roadside restaurant for a spot of lunch en route to Visegradi. Its menu was like a canivore`s circus freak show with nary a vegetable or salad in sight:

- tripe stew
- tripe stew with beans
- tripe stew with brains
- gulyas stew
- gulyas stew with brains
- gizzard stew
- knuckle of wild boar
- meat-stuffed tongue (I dare not ask with what??)

Of course as part of my quest, I went with the tried and true gulyas. Two thumbs up though the Gyor gulyas still stands as uncontested victor. Vegetarians beware: if you are contemplating a walkabout in Hungary, my advice would be to BYORC (bring your own ramen and crackers)!

  2. Not sure why you didn't go for the tripe stew with brains. You may not be able to get that anywhere else in the western hemisphere!:o)
