Is there any doubt that the embassies were hellbent on outdoing one another? The first shot is a detail of the Italian embassy, an enormous set of guard eagles enveloping the most stunning doorway. A more complete shot is shown in the second pic. Directly across the street is the Romanian embassy featuring two columns in the shape of chained Moors. How's that for healthy competition?
